Metzeler dominates 2010 world and British Enduro Championships

There can be little doubt which tyres are the choice of Enduro Champions in both domestic and International Enduro championships. After an incredibly successful 2010, Metzeler tyres swept the board in the UK and totally dominated the three classes on the World stage.

Manxman David Knight dominated both the British and World Enduro (WEC) scene for Metzeler in 2010, confirming his position as one of the world's greatest Enduro riders ever with a convincing display in the demanding and varied events on his calendar. With victories nationally and internationally in outdoor, sprint, beach races and extreme events, he's proved the value of having the right tyres no matter what the terrain. Metzeler's 6 Days Extreme has proved to be just that tyre.

No less significant for Metzeler is the fact that eight of the possible nine podium positions across all WEC classes was taken by a Metzeler rider. An astonishing feat and further proof that the 6 Days Extreme tyre is the most capable in the sport of Enduro, no matter what the motorcycle.

Top of the tree for ‘Knighter' was the FIM E3 world Enduro championship, which he took convincingly with two rounds to go, ‘It's a great feeling and a big relief to have wrapped up the Enduro 3 championship. After everything that happened last year to win another world title means a lot to me, probably more than winning my first two world championships. I always believed that I could do it. I knew it wouldn't be easy to win this year, it never is, but I just kept working hard and staying positive. I have to say a big thanks to KTM, Metzeler, the Farioli team, my mechanic and all my sponsors, they all played a big part in helping me win this title."

Metzeler's success through the classes was second-to-none in 2010 with Mika Ahola taking his fourth world title in the E2 class for Honda. Ahola was followed home by Ivan Cervantes and Tomas Oldrati (both KTM). Multi-world champion, Frenchman Johnny Aubert, took a close second in the E1 World Enduro Championship followed by Eero Remes (again, both for KTM). Across the three classes Metzeler took eight of the possible nine places, and that's if you only look at the top three in each class!

David Knight's successful 2010 encompassed the UK domestic series' as he grabbed the British Sprint Championship and British Enduro championship in his usual spectacularly dominant fashion. Metzeler's International success was backed-up convincingly in Britain with both E2 and E1 championships being taken by Metzeler riders Tom Sagar (Suzuki) and Daryl Bolter (KTM) respectively.

Knight also topped and tailed his year by taking ‘The Tough One' extreme Enduro event and ended it by taking a dominant win at the Weston Beach Race, a full eight minutes clear of his nearest rival!
